We strive to advance the scientific understanding of the human body. In the Department of Physiology and Biophysics, our faculty, students and trainees use cutting-edge technology, a broad range of scientific techniques and an interdisciplinary approach to explore the function of living organisms and their parts. From cardiovascular physiology to smell and taste loss to antidepressant effects of psychedelic compounds, our active areas of study have the potential to expand scientific knowledge and improve health care for humanity.
As members of the broader VCU research community, students, faculty and trainees in the department have access to state-of-the-art facilities and core laboratories across the MCV Campus.
